Brink formed her first group Pulse which was based within Albany New York. They mostly played local concerts with bands like Coal Chamber and Sevendust. Later, the members of the band broke up. At the age of twenty-five, she relocated to California and moved to Los Angeles looking for her big break. When she was looking for a band Brink was working in shops and sang in coffee shops and bars. In the years following, Chris Howorth, a participant in the group she's in, was interviewed by her. Howorth did not want to talk with her due to the fact she was a woman. He changed his mind and even apologized for his decision after listening to her singing. Along with drummer Jeff Fabb, they created the Dying Stars. Blake Bunzel on guitar and Josh Newell on bass joined the band afterward. In This Moment was the name given to the group following the band's first two shows.
